Doorset definition
Approved Document Q - Security – Dwellings, Q1 Unauthorised access, defines a doorset as: 'A complete door assembly, assembled on site or delivered as a complete assembly, consisting of the door frame, door leaf or leaves, essential hardware and any integral side panel or fanlight (but excluding coupled assemblies).'
Where a coupled assembly is: 'A doorset and window that are supplied as separate self-contained frames and fixed together on site.'
The approved document suggests that a secure doorset is: 'Either a doorset that is proven to resist physical attack by a casual or opportunist burglar, or a bespoke doorset incorporating construcion feastures that are proven to reduce crime.'
A communal entrance doorset or shared entrance doorset, including integral adjacent panels and side screens, can be defined as: ‘…an external doorset leading from the street or otherwise public area to an internal semi-private communal area providing access to segregated flats, bedsit or individual bedrooms.’ Ref Secured by Design, Homes 2019, Version 1, February 2019. https://www.securedbydesign.com/guidance/design-guides
